My name is Howard van Rooijen, I’m a .NET Developer. For the past 9.5 years I’ve been working for EMC Consulting (nee Conchango) as an Advisory Practice Consultant within Application Consulting. I focus on working with cross functional teams (Business, Creative and Technical) to bid, win, design and deliver innovative online solutions using the Microsoft Platform within the Retail and Media sectors for some of the UK’s biggest companies, including Microsoft, HMV, Tesco, Debenhams, British Car Auctions, Associated Newspapers, Britvic, Figleaves, Oli and Fancy Dress Outfitters. I have a passion for reducing project delivery friction via Agile Methods and Engineering Excellent by establishing an open culture of continuous education and improvement and a mentality of “working smarter, not harder“. I am also responsible for Engineering Quality initiatives for the Microsoft Practice.

I am also the creator of Scrum for Team System – the Scrum ALM Process Template for Microsoft Team Foundation Server, officially endorsed by Ken Schwaber – the co-creator of Scrum.

Have presented at the Microsoft Architect’s Forum, Microsoft Insight Conference.
Created StyleCop for ReSharper, to help tackle the problem of coding standards & consistency within project teams.
Contribute to Sharp Architecture, xVal and Horn projects.

I have presented at the Microsoft Architect’s Forum and Microsoft Insight Conference – on the topics of Agile & Engineering Practices.

I’m involved in several Open Source project – I created StyleCop for ReSharper, to help tackle the problem of coding standards & consistency within project teams, this led to an invite to become a JetBrain .NET Academy Member. I also created Who Can Help Me? – a .NET Open Source Showcase that demonstrates how use various Open Source Frameworks and Tools to build an Enterprise Level website. I am a developer on the StyleCop and Sharp Architecture projects and have contributed to xVal and Horn.

I’m also a keen photographer and keep my best shots on Flickr and I’m starting to experiment with HD video and have a few random recordings on Vimeo.
